Our training calendar for second half of 2016 is out!

12/07/2016 - by Marios Siathas
The need for training in today’s complex and heavily regulated environment is increasing. The ongoing financial crisis, changes in the business environment and the geopolitical arena, and regional and global developments are making the work of today’s professional quite difficult, increasing the need for ongoing technical and regulatory training to keep in front of the curve. The financial services and support sectors are changing, and so are the requirements for entry and business establishment. ESMA has announced strict rules for the professional competence and knowledge of people working in the sector, and upcoming regulations (like MiFID II, newly introduced reporting obligations like FATCA, CRS, CRD4 etc) are introducing ever increasing requirements for training in the field. For other organizations, needs have also been identified internally and we are responding to their requests in offering programmes to satisfy said needs. Examples of this include training titles focusing on strategy development, performance management, people management, marketing, sales and other soft skills development.Based on the above market analysis, our experts’ vigilance in identifying emerging needs and upcoming regulations, and our ongoing and constant communication with the sector, we are introducing new courses to satisfy all the needs of the business sectors we serve. These include Continuous Professional Development (CPD) titles specifically catering towards the needs of Investment Firms (CySEC), legal professionals (CyBAR), Accountants (ICPAC) and others. Also longer programmes to fill in gaps in a firm’s operations, and professional qualifications as well that boost the employability and careers of participants (ACAMSCISIAATACA and more)Further to the above, this September we are launching our accountancy courses by offering for the first time in Cyprus preparation for the Accountancy Technician and bookkeeping qualifications offered by AAT. We are also introducing a flexible evening and weekend schedule for Chartered accountant ACA (ICAEW) candidates. We assure you that our focus on content quality and appropriate delivery by our qualified and expert tutors will always be part of our philosophy. We want offer value to your organization by ensuring that your staff gets the best training in an appropriate environment and by the best.We hope that our extensive list of titles will satisfy all your training needs. Further to the enactment of the Open-Ended Undertakings for Collective Investment (UCI) Law of 2012, the Alternative Investment Funds (AIF) Law of 2014, and the Alternative Investment Funds Managers Directive of 2011, Cyprus became one of the most cost-effective and advantageous jurisdictions for the establishment of investment funds, offering great opportunities for fund managers to structure and grow their business in Europe and beyond. This has increased the demand for the registration of said funds in Cyprus, making the jurisdiction one of the stronger hubs for Funds in the region.

In this respect, and due to our mission to support the Financial Services Sector, the European Institute of Management and Finance, as the leading and most specialised Training Provider in the Sector, is organising a 10-hour Seminar on AIF and UCITS. Among others, the Course will present the regulatory framework that covers funds in Cyprus and review the scope and applicability of the provisions of the legislation regarding UCITS & AIF management companies, authorized services, depositories, custodians, specific types of funds as well as EU passport and regulation.

A very annoying company - I never registered with them to receive any marketing material, no idea who sold them my contact details, but they keep sending me emails about their offering of training, in Nicosia, Cyprus. Their email does not have an unsubscribe link (which is mandatory for any decent firm) and 3 emails sent directly to Marios Siathas, to remove me from their marketing list, have not even been acknowledged. They may be great at delivering training, but this unsolicited email practice has got to stop. Plain SPAM.

Hello! I'm from Romania and I want to learn greek. I saw your announcement, I want to know if it's available. It's free or how it cost? It's only for the students from Cyprus? I would like to participate, now I'm here for the last two month. Have a nice evening! Goodbye!

As an American student abroad, I am very pleased with Global Learning Semesters. Staff are all very friendly and willing to help with issues that inevitably arise as a foreigner in Cyprus. Example? The horrendous public transportation. GLS staff members have all been accommodating and willing to translate Greek instructions to help me plan my trips around the island.
