It is always a treat to stay at the Columbia Beach Resort. Just the complex by itself is a feast for the eyes, not to mention the beautiful surroundings and the ideal location at Pissouri Bay. I can honestly say that I really relax when I stay here.
I only have experience staying in the Junior Site and the Executive Suite and both are absolutely amazing. The executive suite could be an apartment itself and even includes a small patio and garden. The furniture has been custom made to fit the look and feel of the resort, mixing traditional Cypriot elements with a more modern approach. Overall it is wonderful.
The swimming pool area is a true masterpiece and I love the way it blends with the indoor pool where the spa is.C
olumbia Resort also has one of the richest breakfast buffets I have ever seen. There is an abundance of freshly baked delicacies, cheeses, delicatessen, fresh juices (not the crappy powdered stuff) and even champagne (not the crappy Cypriot sparkling wine). My personal favorite are the waffles and pancakes. You will of course see the classic English breakfast items, as you see at every hotel in Cyprus.
We also loved the dining options, with the tavern serving very good quality food at reasonable prices. I especially recommend the lobster pasta as well as the steak. The beach at Pissouri Bay is nothing special to swim in (bear in mind, we Cypriots are spoiled), but wonderful to sit and relax, or walk up and down the fine gravel. The service is also very good, with all of the staff speaking Greek and English. I found two downsides to this place, one that isn't really anyone's fault, but for the other one there is little excuse. Due to the resort's close proximity to nature, sometimes ants may venture into your room, but of course they are harmless. Not sure anything can be done here. The other thing is the poor selection of TV channels. OK, you'll ask me what I need the TV for when I'm relaxing at a resort, but just humor me. It is not that hard to install a big satellite dish, buy a subscription to a couple of good networks and make sure you offer a world class TV experience. Again, not that anyone should use it, but God is in the details and this one ain't so hard to pull off.
Still, it is always an amazing experience to stay here and I recommend it to anyone who is looking to relax away from a busy schedule. Another bonus is that during the off season, they come up with very affordable offers for both the resort and hotel next door.
