Limassol
Lake Akrotiri
The lake in Limassol host to large number of Greater Flamingos and a variety
of ducks (Shelduck, Pintail, Shoveler). With any luck, several species of gull
(Black headed, Little and Mediterranean) may be spotted as well as terns (Common,
Capsian, Gull-billed) on passage.
The mudflats attract large numbers of waders, including Marsh Sandpiper and
Ruff, Little and Temminck's Stint, Little Ringed and Kentish Plover. The plant
succession can be encountered as you move further away from the Lake edge may
be expected to hold warblers, wheatears and wagtails, whilst the cultivated
areas of the outer perimeter attract larks.
Kyparissia - Germasogeia Dam
Kyparissia is situated between the forest road which links Foinikaria with Prastio
and the public Akrounta - Dierona road about 10 kms from Limassol. |
