Nissi Beach is probably the single most famous beach in Cyprus. It takes its name from the island ("Nissi" in Greek) that hangs off the western side of the beach.
It was the first beach to be developed in Ayia Napa and remains probably the most popular, at least among the younger crowds.
At its best, it is justifiably one of the top beaches in Cyprus - toward the beginning and end of the season, before it gets too crowded, it is utterly crystalline and quite remarkable.
The last few years during the peak periods, it can get very crowded and can pick up some green seaweed which ruins the effect a bit for swimming. The west side (Nissi Bay) has the main Ayia Napa beach parties all summer long.
Water is generally calm in the morning and a bit wavy in afternoon, like most of Ayia Napa. It, needless to say, has the full set of water sports, bungee jumping, etc.
Overall, one of the stalwarts of Ayia Napa.
Pros:Amazing natural beauty
Cons:When the seaweed comes in, it loses a step
