Spectus has raised the level of wine appreciation, knowledge and understanding in Cyprus to a level that many thought was not possible.
Many people thought that when it started over 11 years ago, that it would fail because Cypriots don't want the level of quality and wine that Spectus was offering - boy were they wrong! Not only did they offer excellent wines to cover all tastes, but they introduced people to a whole world of wine with their excellent wine courses for the beginners and advanced wine drinkers. To add to this, they also represent excellent spirits like Delemain cognac, whiskys from Scotland, Port and a whole lot more.
The highlight of the year is the Spectus Gala Dinner - a flavour explosion on your senses in both food and wine.
Take a visit to their shops in Nicosia or Limassol - you will not be disappointed.
Pros:Excellent selection of wines.
Cons:None

Five stars are simply too few to express the magnitude and quality of SPECTUS' contribution to the appreciation of wine in Cyprus.
Apart from offering the best value for money in wines at its 2 wine shops in Lemesos and Lefkosia, in its 12 year history SPECTUS has also initiated hundreds of Cypriots to the world of wine, turning ordinary people to wine lovers and wine lovers to connoisseurs.
Mr. George Hadjikyriacos, the founder and manager of SPECTUS is probably the most knowledgeable person in Cyprus about wine and his passion can rub off on you in the first few seconds of meeting him. George is the heart and soul of SPECTUS and teaches all of the wine seminars that SPECTUS holds for its members in Lefkosia and Lemesos.
I have attended all of the wine seminars offered at SPECTUS and I can tell you that it is a life-changing experience. George does not only teach you how to taste wine, but also how to appreciate it through knowledge. I am in fact planning to retake the seminars just to relive the experience.
Occasionally, famous wine makers are hosted during wine tasting events at SPECTUS where some of the best wines in the world are tasted by SPECTUS members. I have attended dozens of these events and every time is really special. My most memorable experience was a tasting of Premiere Grand Cru Saint Emilion wines, when I tasted my first Chateau Cheval Blanc. It was probably my most memorable wine experience to date.
SPECTUS also holds a large Oenogastronomic Dinner once a year in November, an event that I mark on my calendar literally a year before. It is usually a 7-course gala dinner with 7-9 different wines perfectly matched and served, for probably the best culinary experience most of us will ever have in our lives. There are also several other smaller oenogastronomic events throughout the year.
SPECTUS also organizes wine education trips to Europe every Spring and this year I will attend my first one. Look out for the photos and videos from that event later this year :)
There's not much more I can say. If you are thinking of exploring the world of wine, SPECTUS is definitely the place to start that journey.
Pros:Knowledgeable, true lovers of wine, the best place in Cyprus to learn about it
Cons:Absolutely nothing
