This is a great place for super-cheap, super-trendy items. You can get sweaters, activewear, cotton basics like tees and leggings, and all sorts of accessories, hosiery, and footwear.Great for the disposable portion of your wardrobe. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The shop is small, but carries most of the items you would expect. My experiences here are always different - sometimes the staff is super-helpful and friendly, sometimes they are really pushy, and other times they let you browse around and don't bother you at all. Regardless, I still go.They have a discount card that you can sign up for. They often have promotional free gifts with a certain euro amount purchase, and sometimes they will give you free samples if you are nice :)The prices are great for toiletries and various beauty tools. Their makeup is fun and reasonably-priced as well
The store is tiny, but they have most of the popular fragrance and makeup brands. They even carry the Chanel subsidiary Bourjois! The staff are friendly and they have a bonus card that you should sign up for to obtain discounts.
Toi & Moi is a popular Greek brand of women's clothing. Their items are usually super-trendy, but cater to the mid-20s to mid-30s crowd. They have everything from casual to dressy items. The store has 2 floors, and usually has great sales. Prices are average. They are located on a side-street to Makariou, so you might not notice it at first. It also looks so dark from the outside that you may think it's closed when it's actually open.
Zara is always a consistent experience. This store has 3 floors, a good selection of woman, TRF, and menswear. There are lots of staff members and they are generally willing to check on items that may not be on the floor for you.
This store has a pretty good selection of comfy loungewear, house shoes and lingerie; they are great for robes. Most items have some silkscreened cartoon character on them, although there are some plain items as well.
Great shop for cotton basics (tees, leggings, camis) and trendier items, including footwear and other accessories. The staff is always grumpy so don't ask any questions and try not to get offended when they scowl at you when you want to try something on!The selection is good on both floors for women, and they have menswear upstairs as well. This store caters to a younger demographic.
This is a cool shop to get trendy, well-priced basics and "of the moment" women's clothing, shoes and accessories. The staff is friendly and the store always smells of gardenias - which must be some trick to make you want to shop more :)
On a weekend, the door set-up outside is quite impressive - red carpet, velvet rope, tall blonde with a list, and bouncer-types. You expect to enter a velvet-clothed, warm and cozy champagne lounge, but instead, descend into what looks like a converted restaurant from a touristy part of the country. The musical selections being played had no rhyme or reason to them. The only interesting thing about the "club" is the aquarium with the shark, which will keep your attention for a few minutes. They should work on matching the interior with the exterior.
Do not expect the Jackson Hall of Athens as this is a much more stripped-down, clean-lined restaurant/bar. However, they have a great glass-enclosed deck for both the bar and the dinner tables, and you can watch the noisy traffic of Spyroy Kyprianoy speed by while dining. The service is friendly. The location is optimal.
This brasserie has a great, extremely cozy atmosphere, with seating on two storeys and outside. I tried frog legs for the first time ever, and they were smothered in a delicious olive oil/garlic sauce and were extremely tasty. While my sirloin with sauce au poivre was good, it was not as satisfying as the mussels in white wine sauce that I also sampled. Next time, I will be getting the mussels and frites. For dessert, get the creme brulee, which is bruleed at your table! This seems like a great place for a gathering, or for a date, and it is conducive to a long, leisurely meal. I woul
Nice mid-range Italian shoe shop for men and women. Speaking for the women's shoes, they have a great trendy selection of comfortable, stylish leather shoes. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. Make sure to ask for a loyalty card, as you can get a nice discount for frequent purchases.
The chicken and pork kalamakia are a good, quick option if you don't feel like a hamburger or fried chicken (i.e., from the McDonald's or KFC, also in the food court). They have salad on a skewer as well, which is an interesting presentation. I've eaten at the Nterlicious in Athens, and the souvlaki really tastes like it just came off the grill there - it's extremely delicious. The version in this food court is OK.
The food was fantastic. I tried the Marinated Chicken with Lemongrass and Black Pepper, the Tom Yum Goong soup, and the Red Beef Curry. The Marinated Chicken is absolutely delicious - this order could definitely be for two since they give you two chicken breasts with cucumber and tomato. The soup was spicy and lemony, just like it should be - it will clear out your sinuses from the first spoonful! The curry is not for the calorie-conscious, but tasty.Thai Etc. is a tiny, very neat, nicely laid-out restaurant (mainly for take-away or delivery). From the front desk, you can see through a
Prosilion has a very nice dinner and dessert buffet. Both indoor and outdoor seating are welcoming and elegant. This is a great option for large groups. The cuisine of the buffet is varied and so there are options for everyone. The dessert buffet includes yummy things like maxalepi and cheesecake.
If you love Papaphilippou, you will be vastly underwhelmed by Heracles' Ice Cream. They manage to get about a quarter of the flavour impact of P&P into their ice-cream, and you find yourself struggling to identify the flavour - it's like you can almost taste it. It does have a great location, and stays open much later than anything else on Ledras, and has a play place for the kids.
Little Buddha is amazing. It has great lounge atmosphere, with lots of couch, bar, and table seating for dinner or drinks. It has a nice deck for the warmer months. The staff is friendly, and if you get to know them, the service is quite good. The food and sushi are VERY good for Cyprus standards, and possibly for NYC standards. Try everything on the menu - most items are quite well-executed. I would recommend the Little Buddha Roll for sushi, and the orange chicken and crab cakes as well. They also have a great cocktail menu, and when you are drinking, ask for the prawn chips which ar
This is a great spot to have a frappe break in-between dips in Konnos beach. The cafe overlooks the beach, has a fantastic view, and most of the seating takes advantage of this. The music is loungy, there are individual chairs or couch-benches, and it's open until the sun goes down for other snacks (hot and cold). It is part of the Grecian Park's various restaurants and cafes.
If you had to choose between the poolside cafeteria at the Grecian Bay and the Grecian Sands, I would go to Grecian Sands because it has a superior view and benefits from a fantastic breeze. The Grecian Bay cafeteria is lower and there is no view and can get quite warm. Grecian Sands also grills right in front of you and the smell is too tempting to pass up.That said, the tsipoura and salad were tasty, and it's a nice way to spend your afternoon lunch.
Mr. Louis always has a smile on his face despite toiling away to grill you the perfect sandwich in the thousand-degree heat of his trailer. This sandwich is so delicious it's worth the wait - grab a soda and have a seat under the tent and listen to the Greek music piping out of his little radio. The lountza-halloumi is crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside - add tomatoes and cucumber for extra deliciousness!UPDATE - Mr. Louis has upgraded his sandwich truck! Look for the sleek white truck with the new tent and nice white communal tables next time you pass by! He now has air-conditio
Hustle has ample outdoor space and good music, but is usually so crowded that you feel pressed up against its glass walls. A haven for smokers. The music is good. It's a good option for fair-weather evenings.
If you like coffee-flavoured ice cream, this is your place! They have 3 different kinds - one infused with freshly-roasted Espresso beans; one with Nescafe (!); and one with coffee and chocolate chips. You can get two scoops in a cup (or three if you ask nicely) and try them all. They allow you to sample your flavours before you commit to a scoop. They also have a variety of toppings from chocolate sprinkles to pistachios to strawberries. The staff was very friendly. The outdoor seating space is really nice, comfortable, and cozy, and you get a view of the cars whizzing by from the conv
Maistrali has a fantastic view of Ayia Napa. And it's an easy walk up some steps from the beach to have lunch. You'll definitely want to linger and take in the gorgeous scenery. The food is good - I've had fish several times and it is tasty, but only after asking the owner what's fresh. I can't say I would order anything else off the menu as it is touristy.
If your traditional Greek taverna went clubbing, this is what it would look like. The decor is all white, with disco balls and Greek pop music. You can sit inside or outside, and you have a view of the sea. They also have a daytime bar/lounge with Miami-esque white couches and beds. The food was tasty and not overpriced. You should definitely order the fries - they are seasoned with MAGIC and are delicious!I would go again. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous.
This place is great when the weather is nice and you can sit in the cozy courtyard. The lakhmajoun and chicken souvlaki are delicious must-haves, to be washed down with a beer selection that is quite impressive. The interior definitely has a dark, crowded pub atmosphere, which can be nicer in the cooler months.
This is a great little excursion if you like a gentle hike and it's not 1000 degrees outside. The baths themselves are a quite refreshing spot in stark contrast to the blistering heat of the rest of the trek. However, definitely worth it because the roads in the area overlook gorgeous waterfront, and give you the opportunity to hike down to one of the coves and cool off in the beautiful blue sea.
This is a pretty fun club - the music is good. It's worth getting a table with bottle service if you have a small group. This also affords you a separate space to hang out and dance in than the rest of the patrons. Some nights are more crowded than others.
This is a great standard bar during the week and weekend. The owner puts a lot of effort into various promotions and parties. The food is pretty good. There is outdoor space that is heated in winter and open in summer. The music is usually great. TV screens project Fashion TV all the time.
This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and bright, with lovely balconies - try to get one overlooking the pool area. It has a bountiful breakfast buffet by the pool which is worth waking up for. The pool bar makes delicious smoothies which you can either enjoy at the bar or while lounging on one of the chaise-longs on the grass (servers will bring you your drink, along with lemon-scented frozen towels to beat the heat!). From the pool area, you can take the several flights of steps down to the beach, which is also fantastic - sandy, shallow, with rock formations for snorkeling and
I'm giving Ttakkas 4 stars purely based on the amazing frappe I had there on a sweltering-hot afternoon at the beach. But don't try to order it on the weekend when they are busy with diners. The food is satisfying enough when you're taking a break from sea and sand.
Taverna Napa is a refreshing break from the alco-tourism-oriented bar strip associated with Agia Napa!Taverna Napa's mezedes are copious and delicious. The environment is like stepping into a village taverna with white-washed walls and a canopy draped in vines and grapes, with name-tags hanging from the grapes - get the owner to tell you the story behind that one!Go with a big group of friends!
The people watching here is great - you're right in the midst of Makariou traffic at any hour, and the slightly elevated platform sufficiently separates you from the sidewalk without being crowded behind a plexiglass partition like some of the other Makariou cafes. Service was fine, snacks were ok.
Orpheas is in a beautiful neoclassical home with a fireplace on the first floor, along with a dining area, and a very cozy second floor dining room which would be perfect for a small private party of 20 or so, but also hosts about 4 to 5 tables for groups of 4 to 6. The mezedes are tasty, the service friendly and prompt, parking is convenient and when you're finished eating, you can take a stroll in the lovely neighbourhood of Agios Kassianos.
