Architectural Practice, founded in 1986 by C. E. Chrysanthou. The practice is involved in a wide range of projects, both in the many fields of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Completed designs include private residences, apartment blocks, office blocks, an entire settlement on the island of Crete and several larger projects that are based on competition wins.

These include the restoration of the OldAthletics Power Station in Paphos, as a Cultural Center…a project which is now being extended to include the pedestrianization of the historical and commercial center of Paphos, the reinvention of the Old Port of Limassol, with the introduction of offices, an archaeological exhibition space, Restaurants and shopping facilities, cafeterias and bars, all arranged within the vicinity of the fishing harbor.

Further noteworthy competition projects are the Student Accommodation Halls and the Athletics grounds and Facilities for the University of Cyprus, the latter of which has just been awarded the State Award for Architecture 2010.

The office is currently staffed by eleven individuals of differing disciplines. Amongst them are five architects, drafting staff, visualization and graphic specialists and secretarial staff… several of which are also involved in the academic sphere of the field.

The office also enjoys associations with structural and civil engineers, along with mechanical and electrical engineers and other specialized individuals and disciplines.

In a market which is continuously seeking to create new interpretations of the ideal this close knit cooperation is of paramount importance.

The Practice functions through a constant conversation between the many fields of architecture, dipping into such diverse notions as environmental considerations, master planning, commercial forces and design tectonics so as to ensure that the entity of its character is always adapting to the environment within which it is asked to function as a 'modern office', dubious as the title might sound. Frequent competitions run parallel with the 'mundane' practicalities of the construction industry, the day to day detail and involvement of the building site, the client and their considerations. Practice and theory are hence amalgamated into the larger cauldron of design and its implications.
