Dr Marios Prikis M.D

Dr Marios Prikis, MD is an American Board certified nephrologist (kidney doctor) practising in Nicosia, Cyprus and he is a specialist in treating kidney diseases such as
kidney stones,
recurrent and resistant urine infections,
hypetension (high blood pressure),
diabetic kidney disease,
chronic kidney diseases,
acute kidney diseases,
inherited kidney diseases (such as polycystic kidney disease,
blood or protein in the urine and
electrolyte problems such as hypokalemia, hyperkalemia, hyponatremia and hypernatremia.

Furthermore, he is a Transplant Medicine specialist in both Kidney and Pancreas transplantation accredited and certified both by the American Society of Transplantation (ASTS) and the United Network of Organ Sharing of the USA (UNOS). He has been employed by the Ministry of Health of Cyprus for the foundation of the new Transplant Unit at the Nicosia General Hospital.

He trained as an internist at the University of Illinois at Chicago (Michael Reese Hospital), as a nephrologist at the University of Vermont and Transplant Medicine at the Oregon Health & Science University Hopsital. Before returing to his home country Cyprus, he worked as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine in Transplant Medicine at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, USA and as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Transplant Nephrology at the University of Vermont, Burlington, USA.

Dr Prikis has had an active academic and research work with publications in accredited medical journals of his specialty in both the USA and Europe, such as the American Journal of Transplantation, Kidney International and Nephrology Dialysis Transplant

He is currently holding physician license in the states of Vermont, Oregon, Illinois and North Dakota and he is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology and the International Society of Nephrology.
