Our story begins in music. Our roots lie in this industry from as far back as 1999 when we were involved in organizing a variety of successful, quality musical events and festivals around Cyprus. Our passion for music and our dream to offer something different to Cyprus brought about the birth of Guaba in 2006. This was the beginning of what you know today as the Guaba Culture.

At first just a small kiosk on the beach, Guaba has evolved to the famous and unique party culture that it is today. Back in the time, our small bar was hidden on an unknown beach, hard to find, facings lots of antagonism from the narrow-minded people of the surrounding areas who did their best to try and close us down from opening day. But we survived all this: the police removing our speakers, authorities removing our signs for directions and closing the paths to our place, the meetings with governmental officials who tried to close us down time and time again.

With a small budget but a big heart we stayed alive and grew in popularity, creating something different than the mainstream Cypriot cafés or “high class” bar culture. Our aim was to stray away from the same steep prices, constricting dress codes and typical scenes that seems to dominate almost every place on the island, and instead offer our clientele something different. Why go through so much hassle to enjoy a night out, trying to book a table or get in somewhere, facing attitudes at the door if you do not know anyone, being turned away if you do not meet face-control? At Guaba, we make things easy for our friends. We welcome them into an easy-going world where they can feel comfortable and still have fun.

And so Guaba grew, both in spirit and in size, soon becoming second home to thousands of people, like a church with its doors open wide to welcome anyone into its growing family. With the support of its dedicated fans, Guaba has proved that it is not just a place. Home is where the heart is, and at Guaba the love makes you feel at home. Slamming the doors on stereotypical Cypriot society and opening new doors to freedom, Guaba has become a revolution, even more than just a culture or a home. Guaba is becoming a religion.

After 3 years we were forced to relocate after the Limassol district administration failed to agree to renew our contract for the premises we have been occupying, at which point the Agios Tihonas Board swooped in and their decision cost us our location. Guaba shouted louder than ever before, despite the continuing problems it faced, letting the whole world know that it was still alive and kicking – a good example of what is well-known: that what does not kill you will only make you stronger.

We proved that Guaba is not just a place – it is a community of fun-loving people who are young at heart and free in spirit. Nobody can close that down. We relocated, and Summer of 2009 the Guaba revolution reached heights that nobody could ever dream of! The Guaba family grew, with the help of its fans, showing the world that Guaba will be always alive and thriving in Cyprus, no matter where it ends up.

Nobody knows what the future will bring… but one thing you can know for sure is that our Guaba family will only become stronger as time goes by. We know that because of our dedicated followers, next season will be the best yet and so we invite everyone to join our family and take part in all the fun! No matter what you earn or who you are, no matter what car you drive or where you live, in our home everybody is equal. Everybody is welcome.
