My review
This is a place I was just thrilled to come across! Delicious vegetarian meals for all tastes! Various cuisines combined in a very unique and creative way for an excellent result. It fits perfectly in the neighborhood / old-city area, and it's a just a great stop especially if you're into something non main stream.
Atmosphere, friendly owners, creative dishes, tasty food
I love this place for various reasons.
First is its location in Chrysaliniotissa, one of my favorite neighborhoods in Nicosia, actually sharing the same space with the Chrysaliniotissa Crafts Center.
Most importantly though, is the creativity and quality of the food, combined with the genuinely nice and authentic personalities of the owners. Inga is originally from Iceland and her partner (whose name eludes me) is Italian. Their combination of experiences and tastes makes probably the best vegetarian food I've ever tried.
There is not an item in the menu (which by the way is written on a blackboard every day) that is not creative, with recipes such as "hazelnut burgers with hummous." The food is absolutely delicious and the menu will always surprise you as they keep coming up with new and creative dishes that will make you want to keep coming back for more.
The atmosphere is very pleasant, as most of the seating area is in the courtyard of the Craft Center, surrounded by flowers. The owners are extremely nice and very interesting to talk to. They speak English, a little bit of Greek and of course Icelandic and Italian.
Last buy not least, the prices are VERY low, making this an all-around 5-star rating.
Most definitely one of my favorite places in Old Nicosia and a place like no other in Cyprus. Worth a visit if you are in the mood for something new and delicious (and healthy).
casual, excellent food, friendly staff, great value for money
I find this place really charming and enjoy going there for lunch on Saturday every once and then, even though I am not vegetarian.
The cafe itself is quite small and cannot accommodate many people, however, on sunny days (so pretty much most of the year) it is possible to sit in the garden.
All the dishes are fresh and home made. You can order e.g. hazelnut burger, barley squash bake or peppers stuffed with tofu, pine nuts and veggies, all accompanied by a fresh salad. A fantastic solution for a light lunch. Everything my husband and I tried so far was delicious.
For a dessert I strongly recommend the cheesecake, it is absolutely divine!
