    location, views, food, hosts.....

I was recommended to visit this restaurant by a friend last year whilst i was staying in the area and decided to take some friends with me. I can honestly say i had the most amazing time, the food (from a simple menu) is incredibly good, the location is amazing and the views outstanding, in my opinion a little piece of paradise as my pictures show.

    Everything

I visited The Last Castle in July 2010 and was amazed by its stunning setting. There were grapes hanging on vines over head, the most stunning views and a lovely friendly family running the business. The food, as simple as it was, was so tasty and the whole experience made my holiday. If you are in the area you absolutely have to visit.

    Excellent souvla, location

Do one thing, and do it right - and that's what the owners of The Last Castle follow.

The restaurant is situated near the Avakas Gorge at the entrance to the Akamas Peninsula. It is basically all hand built and consists of stone tables (think Flintstones here) and traditional Cypriot reed-woven chairs, all under a huge vine that gives pretty good shade in summer.

Souvla, or spit roasted meat, is all they do here - pork or chicken along with salad and a choice of 2 potatoes - jacket or "chips" which are basically a potato cut into 4!

Because they only do one thing, they do it very well - there is no better souvla in Cyprus! The portions are large (2 huge pieces of meat per person) and you will always leave some food behind or take it away in a doggy-bag. After your fruit and coffee all you want to do is find a hammock to relax in for a couple of hours.

Because the restaurant is on a hill, there is always a breeze (even in the middle of summer) and you have a fantastic 180 degree panoramic view of the Akamas Peninsula coast.

This is a treasure well worth seeking out if you are in Paphos, but be warned that especially at the weekends, you MUST CALL AND MAKE A RESERVATION!

Just as advice - a normal car will make it to the restaurant without any problems - there is no need for a 4x4 because the dirt track there is very well worn.
