To Paragadi

A year ago I had an amazing dinner with friends at Paragadi and I was overall very pleased with the food and service. Generally I believe that it was a bit overpriced but the quality of the food justified the price.

Having that image in mind, when a small birthday party for a friend came up (around 8 persons) I suggested Paragadi as a very good option for fish food in Nicosia. Unfortunately we were all left a bit disappointed. The food was just OK (The calamari was not fresh nor the octopus and the paella was below average), nothing special. Moreover many of the dishes that I really looked forward to were not available (Swordfish souvlaki, mussels with rice).
As far as service is concerned, all the tables were full but only 2 waiters were serving the entire floor!! They were doing their best but that was not enough! As you can imagine this caused huge delays throughout our dinner.

Finally, the price. Even though it remained as pricey as I remembered it to be, this time the food quality did not justify the price. Moreover, 4,5 euro per person just for fruits and sweets?

I don't know what went wrong with this restaurant but I really do hope they manage to fix the whole situation because I really do miss a good Fish restaurant in Nicosia

This is one of the best known and most popular fish taverns in Nicosia. It is more posh than your usual fish tavern and that is also reflected in the price, but the food is good and a fresh alrernative to the pretty much identical menu of most fish taverns.

Even though I welcome experimentation with food, I also believe you should also stick to the solid must-haves and my humble opinion is that when you order the fish meze here, you get a few too many "unusual" dishes and not enough "classics".

Still the food is great, the service impeccable and the atmosphere very warm and welcoming. I especially like the numerous jars of "glyko" sweets decorating the entire restaurant.

The last time I visited To Paraadi, it was a nice place with good fish.

Since then a lot has changed. The inside of the restaurant has been renovated andit looks really nice.

The fish is excellent! Fresh and a good amount. The only thing is that all this comes at a price - not too unreasonable, but a little expensive.
