The studio is located in Fasoula, 8 kilometers north of Limassol, a beautiful small village with artistic touch. To find the "Studio" you follow the signs by the church, you drive or walk through almond trees.

Passing through the entrance you will enter into a "Sculpture Park". A park to walk around and discover the beauty of art among the relaxing environment. "Small Salamis", "Gymnasium" (open gallery), "Museum", "Gallery".

In the evening sculpture park turns into magic. Small Salamis holds different events in the summer nights, with music, poetry, theatre. Also the place is rented for gala dinners for companies, mostly from abroad who visit Cyprus to hold their seminars or just to entertain their staff and associates.

The following is from the web site of Philippos Yiapanis …

I was born in Famagusta, Cyprus on 8.1.1957 and when I was 17 years old I had to leave my town due to the Turkish invasion in Cyprus and the occupation of Famagusta by the Turkish troops.

I studied Shipbuilding in Greece and when I returned to Cyprus I could not work as a Shipbuilder so I worked in the family business.

Many people ask me why I started making sculptures. Why quit everything else and start out of nowhere to create in bronze. There was nobody to teach me, nobody to show me how to start. I was confident I could do it and I did it.

My first contact with sculpture was in high school, in Famagusta, when I made a wooden sculpture. The wish to be a sculptor was always there, but came true after many years, when I was 35 years old. I started working with clay in my free time and the hobby becomes my full time work.

I had my first solo exhibition in 1996, which was followed by more solo and group exhibitions all over free Cyprus. In 2007 I participated in Florence Biennale.

My studio is located in a small village named Fasoula, 8 kilometers north of Limassol with a permanent exhibition of my work. A sculpture park and a small open theater called “Small Salamis” are basic elements of my studio. I offer Small Salamis for charity events. Many famous Greek singers gave concerts here for the needs of Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends. A charity association which helps people with cancer.

    Wonderful scupltures, everything explained

After a days driving over the mountains from Nicosia, we finally arrived at our final destination a little tired. What was in store for us was a trip of beauty and history.

Philippos Yiapanis is a sculptor that has set up a "small" Art Studio and Sculpture Park in Fasoula - about 20 minutes from the Mesa Geitonia roundabout of Limassol. His Sculpture Park has been built to remind us of the occupied land of Cyprus and he names it "Small Salamis" - he says that he chose here because the trees leading to his land remind him of his land in the occupied areas.

We are met at the gates by Philippos - a quiet, but yet very passionate character and he proceeded to take us through the park and explain the major pieces of work that he has created.

Each and every item in the park has a story and a meaning, down to the snails and spiders that he has on his fence around the park.

He shows us the amphitheatre that he has built that holds about 130 people and where he holds small informal concerts for the Cancer Society.

After the majesty of the gardens, we are then taken inside to see the other works of art - pieces of beauty and awe.

Philippos takes his time and explains the reason and meaning behind each sculpture and why it was created. Some are in bronze, some in marble and a few a mixture of both, but all are beautiful and having the sculptor explain each one just adds to the beauty of each.

The scultures are for sale, with most being limited editions numbering 8 or 10 in all.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Philippos is passionate about his life, his work and the meaning behind each and every sculpture.

This was a truely enjoyable visit to a small corner of beauty tucked in the high hills above Limassol in Fasoula Village.

I cannot recommend too strongly for you to visit.

Visit the website for more information and beautiful photographs.
