Zanettos, established in 1938, is probably the oldest surviving restaurant in Cyprus. Located in the old part of Nicosia it consistently serves well prepared meze dishes.
Great food, large quantities
Zanettos is one of my all time favorite taverns in Cyprus. The amount of food is incredible and the quality is great. It's one of the few taverns I've eaten at that include snails in the meze by default. And they make them just the way I like them - I can go through the entire serving by myself (which I usually do).
The location is nice, in Old Nicosia near the outdoor market. The restaurant itself is not very big and can get crowded easily. The favorite area to be seated is the internal yard that can seat about 30 people and is very popular for booking for special events.
The service is good and friendly.
Tasty mezedes, friendly waitstaff
Copious amounts of mezedes, friendly service - the type where the owner or his offspring serve your table - and ample room for large groups.
Excellent meze, cozy environment
One of the standard-bearers of Cypriot meze, Zannetos has been a fixture of the Old City for decades.
The style of the restaurant is that of an old house, cozy to the point of the tables *almost* being on top of one another, and old photographs of the elite of Nicosia who have eaten there over the years.
The meze is broad, deep and well-executed. Details escape me right now and will be refreshed after my next visit there, but it is quite good, one of the best in Nicosia.
Overall, excellent experience.
Very friendly, delicious Greek/Cypriot food
Comfortable family restaurant, very down-to-earth atmosphere as if you're in someone's home. The meze we had here was one of the best meals I can remember.
